Co-Founder & Design Practice Leader
Carmine is a co-founder and partner at REALM, serving as the studio’s design practice leader helping to guide the vision for the firm and its future growth.
His focus is in advancing the firm’s ability to raise awareness for the value of democratic public space and its ability to shape the culture in the places in which we live. He is interested in designing spaces that are centered around a scale that is hospitable to pedestrian movement, placing all other means of transportation and mobility secondary. It is also a goal of his to help advance the dialogue on what makes a great city, how it should function and ways to apply established urban design approaches.
Carmine is an experienced practitioner in the design of the urban realm and has led multiple projects for world-class leaders in healthcare, higher education, and arts institutions. He has engaged with accomplished multidisciplinary teams in the United States and consulted with international clients in the development of projects in Russia, China and India.
Carmine is also a visible leader in the profession of landscape architecture through his thirteen years of service as a member of the Executive Committee for the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). He served in many leadership positions, including President of the Chapter. Additionally, he has served as Board President for the Columbus Neighborhood Design Center.
