Nick Gilliland
Co-Founder & Construction Leader
Nick is a highly effective project leader recognized for his ability to listen, organize, and lead.
He works closely with clients to ensure that their intentions are understood and implemented to the highest standards. Within REALM, he leads our design team to new visions which can be made reality through collaboration with partners.
Nick brings innovative thinking, along with a keen awareness of the technical aspects of site development, to the multidisciplinary teams that he collaborates with. By getting involved in projects during early stages, Nick is instrumental in leading advisors to visions bigger than they had dreamed of, talking through challenges and advocating spaces for all.
Through site visits and numerous meetings, he is involved in the construction process from design to final walkthroughs, serving as a constant for clients and project partners across the board. He wants to invoke a sense of place within projects - leaving visitors with the mystery of wondering “who made this?”. He takes great pride in local projects, and claims that there is satisfaction to be had from clean, simple projects which are often the most difficult to achieve.
In addition to his project work, Nick has been key to the success of the Ohio Chapter of the ASLA having served on the Executive leadership since 2009 with roles ranging from Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President of Communications and acting as Chapter President from 2012-2013. He just wrapped up his term serving the chapter as Trustee to ASLA national in 2022. Nick also has a passion for giving back to his local community, having served on Upper Arlington’s tree commission from 2017 to 2022.
